May 2005 OSI Deliverable -- Domain Name Service

Synopsis:

The CUWiN development team has finished most of the code for the name service. The key code for filtering and re-advertising Zeroconf services to the community is written. Full integration and testing will begin immediately and continue though the first half of May.

Programmers and interested developers can find the source code for the DNS in the CUWiN repository.

Users will find the node configuration user interface engaging and easy-to-use. The CUWiN development team welcomes feedback on the node-configuration interface.

The most difficult aspects in the user interface, especially the "Share" page, are finished. and the CUWiN development team has tested multiple use-cases of interaction. Users can toggle viewing by machine or by service, and choose start or stop sharing either individual services or entire service types, or a combination of the two. Some additional work will be needed other areas before the mockup is fully implemented.

Following integration and testing, some work will still remain, for example, delegating domain names and adding name servers. However, no major difficulties are expected as these are relatively simple tasks.
